The Camp Melita Island Boy Scout Association needs four to five additional sailing instructors for the 2012 summer season due to increased programming and popular demand.

Last year, 16 guest instructors and more than 300 Scouts attended the island camp on Flathead Lake.

D. Kyle Boyce, the aquatics director for the past three years, will be the sailing director in 2012.

“This enables me to put my emphasis on sailing and further develop and direct this popular camp activity which is unique to Melita,” Boyce said. “I will have increased contact with our instructors and be able to add more activities.”

With the added instructors, both youths and adults will have the chance to learn sailing.

Instructors are needed for the weeks of July 22 to 28, July 29 to Aug. 4, and Aug. 5 to 11.

Competent, enthusiastic sailors devoted to good seamanship are invited to apply.

They need not be professionals.

The camp will house guests in cabin tents and provide meals. Transportation to and from Montana is at your own expense.

This is the Melita Island program’s fourth consecutive season.

Additional cruising boats have enlarged the fleet to offer an overnight experience.

In addition to teaching on a daily basis, select boats and crew will ship out on Flathead Lake for a couple of nights giving participants a unique Scouting experience.
