Softball: Polson tops Libby; C-Falls rips Whitefish

POLSON — Jessica Bagnell batted 3-for-4 with a pair of triples and four RBIs as the Polson Pirates downed visiting Libby 10-1 in a Northwestern A softball matchup on Tuesday.
Polson’s Shalaina Duford struck out eight, gave up two hits and walked four in the win.
Mahalah Wedel and Lexi Hageness had Libby’s hits.
“We had a little bit of a slow start, but we picked it up in the fifth and sixth,” said Pirate coach Larry Smith.
“We were getting girls on base, but we just weren’t able to get that timely hit to score them,” he said.
The Pirates stranded eight baserunners in the game — six in the first four innings.
Polson (2-2) plays host Thursday to Hamilton.

Columbia Falls (6-1 overall, 2-1 league) ripped 17 hits, led by Shaun Rowe, 3-for-4.
Tiffany Hummer, Jaylynn Cantu, Niki Birky, Erika Nelson and Ashley Trueblood had two hits each.
Andrea Lamereux doubled and drove in a run for Whitefish.
