Woman with three warrants released soon after arrest

A 26-year-old transient woman in Kalispell was released on her own recognizance Tuesday after spending just nine hours in jail.

Mandi Anderson was wanted on three warrants at the time of her arrest.

The first was a bench warrant issued March 9 on a Kalispell Municipal Court case alleging two traffic violations.

The second was for her alleged participation in the burglary of her uncle’s house on Buffalo Hill Drive.

The third was on a felony burglary case filed the day after the Buffalo Hill burglary, alleging the theft of items from her ex-boyfriend’s roommate in June 2011.

Anderson was arrested by officers with the Kalispell Police Department after her mother reported Anderson had shown up at her home shortly after 2 a.m. Tuesday.

That was after Anderson allegedly had taken a vehicle from the residence without permission Monday night before abandoning the car, which was located and returned.

Detective Chad Zimmerman with the Kalispell Police Department said Anderson was arrested and transported to jail. Prior to being taken to jail, Anderson was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center, where she was treated for pneumonia symptoms and an infection in her foot.

At 5:45 a.m, Anderson was booked into the Flathead County Detention Center. By 3 p.m., she had been released on her own recognizance after her initial appearance in front of Justice of the Peace Mark Sullivan.

Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry shared his disappointment with Anderson’s quick release. The jail had 77 inmates at the time of her release and can hold up to 92 without special permission.

Curry said he would never request any inmates be released, even if jail capacity reached its maximum.

“I’ll stack them in there like cordwood,” Curry said. “I’m not going to release somebody that needs to be held.”
