Rangers take 2 from Cranbrook

EUREKA — The Kootenai Valley Rangers opened American Legion baseball play on Saturday with a doubleheader sweep of Cranbrook, British Columbia.

Ryan Holder threw a no-hitter and struck out 14 batters on the mound and went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs as Kootenai Valley won the first game 10-0.

Bryton Guckenberg and Dalton Smith also had two hits each for the Rangers.

It was more of the same in the second game as Kootenai Valley blanked Cranbrook again, 10-0.

Both contests were called after six innings on the 10-run rule.

Holder led the offense in the second game, going 3-for-4. Kade Davis and Guckenberg were next with two hits each.

The Rangers host Mission Valley Senior Babe Ruth for a doubleheader today starting at noon.
