Dawson strikes out 10 in Flathead victory

Cassidy Smith’s suicide squeeze in the bottom of the seventh scored Mackenzie Twichel and the Flathead Bravettes picked up a 5-4 nonconference victory Tuesday over visiting Whitefish.

“It was definitely intense. Errors hurt us at the beginning but we battled through every inning,” said Flathead coach Ashley Fusaro.

“Carson Dawson pitched really well. There were quite a few errors behind her, but she kept battling and coming back with good strikeouts for us,” she added.

Dawson struck out 10 Bulldog batters and gave up four hits.

“A lot of girls got to play and our JVs did well, too. They won 16-1,” Fusaro added.

The Bravettes (4-7 2-4) play host at 3 and 5 p.m. on Thursday to Missoula Big Sky and Missoula Sentinel.
