Stenger wins twice for Wildkat tennis

COLUMBIA FALLS — Tuesday was a day of ups and downs for the Columbia Falls Wildkat tennis team.

The Wildkats played host to both the Eureka Lions and the Whitefish Bulldogs.

Against Eureka, Columbia Falls won the No. 1 singles and doubles matches, but Eureka came away with the rest, defeating the Wildkats 4-2.

Columbia Falls claimed No. 1 and No. 3 singles against Whitefish, but the Bulldogs took a 5-2 overall victory.

Gabrielle Stenger had a stellar day for the Wildkats, picking up a pair of wins over Eureka’s Angela Bailey and Whitefish’s Simone Craft.

No. 2 and No. 3 singles in the Whitefish dual were slugfests. Whitefish’s Sloan Ellis defeated McKenna Emmerts, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 2 while Columbia Falls’ Emma Covill outlasted Caroline Carbo 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).

Whitefish 5, Columbia Falls 2
