Duane Harry Macal, 76

Duane Harry Macal, 76, of Columbia Falls, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012, at his home.

 He was born Aug. 21, 1935, in Frazee, Minn., the son of Harry and Cecelia (Loebrick) Macal. Duane graduated from Frazee High School.

He worked several jobs, including putting in communication lines for Great Northern Railroad which brought him to Montana for the first time.

He then married Arleen Alice Olson on Feb. 6, 1955. Duane and Arleen lived on a dairy farm near Frazee, until they moved near Columbia Falls in April of 1972. He started his own carpentry business and got to fish, hunt and trap, and spend time with the family outdoors. He lived out his life dreams.

 Duane is survived by his wife, Arleen Macal, of Columbia Falls; and his children, Sandra and Kevin Gracey of Des Moines, Iowa, Diane and Dale Farnes of Kalispell, James Macal of Columbia Falls, Jeff Macal of Columbia Falls, Robin Macal of Jackson, Wyo., and Russell and Barb Macal of Corvallis, Ore. He is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

 A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 640 7th Street West, Columbia Falls.

 Arrangements are entrusted to Columbia Mortuary.
