A 25-year-old Whitefish man was given a 10-year suspended sentence April 19 in Flathead District Court for leading police on a high-speed chase last year.

On March 25, 2011, Abram Schilling was stopped by a deputy with the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office near the intersection of Industrial Court and U.S. 93.

When the deputy approached Schilling’s vehicle, Schilling drove away up the highway at  between 100 and 120 mph.

After reaching Kalispell, Schilling lost control of his vehicle as he passed the Buffalo Hill Golf Club, putting his vehicle in a ditch. He then attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by deputies who used a Taser.

Schilling’s 10-year suspended sentence will run consecutive to sentences he faces in Lewis and Clark County.
