Bravettes rally by Helena; fall 3 short against Capital
Flathead managed to rally for one victory — a 3-2 triumph over Helena High — but left the bases loaded a couple times in the second outing versus Helena Capital and came up short, losing 3-0.
Both games were at the Conrad Complex.
The split leaves the Bravettes 3-5 in Western AA softball action.
“It was nice to come from behind once,” Flathead coach Ashley Fusaro said. “We played well, hit the ball well.”
Julia Morrow started the rally for Flathead versus Helena with a nifty bunt single in the bottom half of the fifth inning. Irish Matulevich, Kaylee Henderson and Julie Dawson all reach base and scored.
Carson Dawson held Helena High to four hits.
In the second game, Morrow went 3-for-3. Shayla Tweet and Henderson had the other hits.
Capital scored a single run in the first, third and fifth innings.
Capital’s Savannah Smith opened the game with a triple.
“We had some great hits, but right to the other team,” Fusaro said.
Flathead is back in action Thursday, hosting Missoula Sentinel. That game was rained out last week.
