MISSOULA — It was all Glacier in the No. 1 singles tennis final on Saturday at the Missoula Invitational.

Katya Kulikova stopped Hailey Blalack 6-2, 6-1.

Glacier’s Mario Hernandez, at No. 2 singles, defeated Chris LaPorte of Sentinel, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 in that final.

“His first actual invitational,” Glacier assistant coach Cameron Rozell said. “That’ll be a great confidence booster for him going into the Helena Invite and divisionals.”

Glacier’s Hunter Blalack finished second at No. 1 singles, falling to Blake Miller of Hellgate, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.

“Hunter got the best of him last weekend, but it was reversed this time,” Rozell said. “Miller just played a little better tennis today.”

Glacier’s Veronica Walton finished fourth at No. 1 singles. She hurt her ankle in an earlier match.

Flathead had one flight winner — Annie Marshall and Ashli Petek at No. 2 doubles.

The Bravettes had another finalist at No. 3 doubles with Anna Milheim and Alexandra Moe. They settled for second.

Flathead’s Katie Goodnough and Jaycee Rocha finished third at No. 3 doubles.

“I was happy,” Flathead coach Jeff Anderson said.

“Every one of our players got a win today. That was a good thing.”

He said Marshall and Petek were playing together for the first time.

“They played really well,” he said. “We had to shift our lineup for the eighth straight week. That was a neat thing to see (them win it).

“For all the kids to get success today, that was very important.”

Anderson said Andrew Klingensmith, normally at No. 3 singles, stepped up to No. 2 and played well.
