Apgar Village hosts Celtic duo

| August 1, 2012 6:30 PM

The Montana House, in Glacier National Park’s Apgar Village, will ring with Celtic music Aug. 17 and 18.

Willson and McKee, a nationally touring duo specializing in original and traditional Irish and Scottish acoustic music, will perform both nights at 8 p.m.

Ken Willson and Kim McKee are two voices with dulcimers, guitars, the Irish bouzouki, Celtic harp, accordion, stories and dances. The duo’s music explores their Celtic heritage plus their Rocky Mountain roots, giving them distinct sound.

Willson and McKee’s music mixes original compositions with ancient sounds and traditional pieces.

The duo has won repeated honors at the Milwaukee Irish Festival’s international songwriting competition.

McKee received 15 years of classical training before turning to traditional Irish and Scottish music 28 years ago. She plays hammered and mountain dulcimer, folk harp, accordion, guitar and bodhran, and she never passes up an opportunity to teach a Ceili dance.

Willson is the pulsing folk drive, with an engaging tenor voice and tasteful guitar and bouzouki foundations to the unique material. A weaver of wit and tales, he can also spin a fine Ceili swing on the dance floor.

Tickets are $5 each. The concerts are open to the public.

Seating is limited, so reservations are required; call 888-5393 or email 1960mthouse@qwestoffice.net.
