Nadine Christie, 86

| August 5, 2012 6:36 PM

Nadine Christie, 86, passed away on Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, after a long illness. She was born on Sept. 19, 1923, to Carol and Meryl Landon in Saco, Mont.

When she was 11 years old, she and her family left Saco and moved to Kalispell, where she grew up and went to school. Her family grew to include five boys and four girls; brothers Roy, Jim, Marvin, Frank and Don and sisters Nadine, Grace, Alice and Sylvia.

In 1944 she met the love of her life, Lawrence Christie, and they were married on January 5, 1945. They had been married 61 years at the time of his death in 2006.

Nadine loved the Lord and was a member of the Nazarene Church in Kalispell. She was adorable and never looked her age. She was sweet, loving, helpful, energetic, funny and always ready to pitch in and help any of us out. She was a great cook and family potlucks won’t be the same without her.

“We will miss you, our sweet Nadine, and can’t wait to see you in heaven.”

The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Home Options Hospice of Kalispell for their loving, tender care of Nadine (especially her favorite nurse Lorie) and also her helpful home care companion Jean Jones, for things too numerous to list here.

The family requests that any memorials contributions be sent to Home Options Hospice of Kalispell, in memory of Nadine Christie.

Nadine was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence, brothers Roy Landon and Marvin Landon, sisters Alice Pollard and Sylvia Glidden, grandson Brent Christie and nephew Ron Waters.

She is survived by her brothers Jim and wife Nancy, Frank and wife Phyliss, and Don and wife Gloria; her dear sister Grace Waters; her sisters-in-law Verna Landon, Gladys Landon and Elsie Darlene Christie; her stepson Larry Christie; her daughter-in-law Shirley; her granddaughter Joy Harmon; and numerous nephews and nieces. Along with her BIG family she leaves behind many good friends, who will really miss her.

There will be a visitation for Nadine on Tuesday, Aug. 7, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home. Funeral services for Nadine will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 10 a.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1295 Whitefish Stage Road, with Pastor Ed Koteskey officiating. Burial will be at Glacier Memorial Gardens, with a luncheon following at the church.
