Local poet will give readings

| August 8, 2012 7:30 PM

Flathead Valley native John W. Wulf never considered himself a writer, despite the poetry he wrote all his life. But Wulf has published his first collection and will be reading from it at local book stores.

Wulf will read from and sign copies of “Lady Who Loves the Whisper: A Heart’s Unsimple Truth” from noon to 2 p.m. Aug. 17 at Bad Rock Books, 515 Nucleus Ave. in Columbia Falls; and from 3 to 6 p.m. Aug. 18 at Parkland Books, 850 Lake Blaine Road near Kalispell.

Wulf, who recently moved to Boise, Idaho, graduated from Columbia Falls High School in 1969. He studied social work after Army service in Vietnam, but worked mostly in the timber and automotive industries.

His first published collection of poetry has gathered those pieces that speak directly to our most human need: to connect emotionally with one another. A recent review notes, "Sometimes wistfully, sometimes painfully, and often with a delightful dry humor, Wulf finds his way through relationships and stages of life — and invites us along for the ride."
