Symphony offers free master class

| August 8, 2012 6:00 PM

Glacier Symphony and Chorale is now accepting applications for a free master class with the Fry Street Quartet.

The quartet is a dynamic professional string quartet-in-residence at the University of Utah.

The master class is an educational opportunity for advanced string students (violin, viola and cello) and string quartets from grade seven through college. It is open to the public, and offers the opportunity for selected participants to perform with the Fry Street Quartet in a short session.

Nonparticipant string players may also attend as auditors.

Participation is free but requires the submission of an application to the Glacier Symphony and Chorale. Deadline to submit an application is Aug. 29.

A limited number of participants will be selected by Glacier Symphony Music Director John Zoltek and Concertmaster Sam Taylor.

The class will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Whitefish Sept. 8.

The Fry Street Quartet will also be in the area for a special concert at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center.

Visit the Glacier Symphony and Chorale website at www.gscmusic.org and click on the “Education” tab. Scroll down to the Master Class section to access the downloadable application forms.
