Alvin Kalvig, 80

Alvin Kalvig, 80, of Blackduck, Minn., died Aug. 6, 2012, in Winsted, Minn.

Al was born in Iowa and graduated from high school in 1950 in Kanawha, Iowa. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1951 and served during the Korean conflict.

Al began an accounting and tax practice in Blackduck, operating under the name Kalvig & Associates. Al retired in 1998 and was diagnosed with dementia in 2005.

Al enjoyed the game of baseball and was active in coaching Little League. He enjoyed golfing, loved spending time with his family and was proud of his children.  

Al is survived by children, Dwight and Sandy Kalvig of Blackduck, Dawn Kalvig of Winsted, Elizabeth Carol of Virginia, Minn., and Kenneth and Rhonda Kalvig of Kalispell; grandchildren, Kathryn Kalvig, Emilie Kalvig, April Thompson, Ashtyn Thompson, Allison Kalvig, Olivia Kalvig and Erik Kalvig; and two sisters.

Services will be held Saturday, Aug. 11, in Blackduck, with military honors. Interment will be in Kanawha.
