John Denver tribute show to aid CASA

One of the country’s leading tenors will bring the music of John Denver to Whitefish in a benefit concert for a local nonprofit.

Mike Eldred will perform at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center. A reception with Eldred will follow at Crush Wine Bar.

Eldred has played Jean Valjean in the Broadway production of “Les Miserables,” performed in the 25th anniversary tour of “Jesus Christ Superstar” and starred as Tony in the Nashville Symphony’s production of “West Side Story.” He has performed with symphony orchestras across North America and with artists such as Stevie Wonder, Garth Brooks, Amy Grant, Luther Vandross and Vince Gill.

His 2011 album “Come Love Me Again” is a compilation of some of Denver’s most popular songs, including “Rocky Mountain High,” “Take Me Home Country Roads” and “Annie’s Song.”

Proceeds from the concert will benefit CASA for Kids in the Flathead Valley.

Court Appointed Special Advocates recruits, trains and supports citizen volunteers who advocate for abused and neglected children in the community and the courtroom. CASA for Kids in the Flathead Valley is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that has provided protection to 149 abused an neglected children since Jan. 1.
