A 24-year-old Kalispell woman pleaded guilty Thursday in Flathead District Court to a felony count of criminal mischief.

Mariah Hay destroyed several items in another person’s apartment and also stuffed paper into baseboard heaters and turned the thermostat all the way up.

The total cleaning cost was estimated at almost $3,700.

By pleading guilty to the charge, Hay had a secondary charge of misdemeanor theft dropped. Her plea agreement also includes a stipulation that attorneys with the Flathead County Attorney’s Office will be requesting a four-year deferred sentence as well as restitution connected with both original charges.

Hay’s sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 9.
