Bigfork artist part of family show

| August 29, 2012 7:30 PM

Work by Bigfork artist Darlene Morgan will be featured this fall in a family exhibit at Dixie State College’s Sears Museum Gallery in St. George, Utah.

“It’s All Relative” features pieces by Morgan; her mother, Merle Fish Olson; and her cousin, Brian Challis.

Morgan works in India ink and pastels. She won the People’s Choice Award at the Hockaday Museum of Art’s Members Show in 2011; it was the second time Morgan’s piece was voted the favorite. She also won the People’s Choice Award while her work was on display at the Bigfork Museum of Art and History in June.

Olson lived in St. George for years, painting the red rock in all mediums, and became an expert in china restoration at her St. George and Bigfork studios.

Challis, Olson’s nephew, has crafted sculptures found in private and public collections around the globe. The Utah Jazz commissioned him to create sculptures of John Stockton and Karl Malone.

“It’s All Relative” opens Friday and will run through Nov. 9.
