A 32-year-old man is in the hospital recovering after being stabbed early this morning on Helena Flats Road.

According to a news release from the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office, a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year old boy were reportedly confronted by two men, ages 32 and 33, for walking in the road around 2:30 a.m.

The boys went home, armed themselves with Airsoft pistols and hunting knives and returned to the house where the men’s car was parked.

The men saw the boys show up and ran at the boys. During the encounter, the 32-year-old was stabbed in the abdomen, allegedly by the 16-year-old boy.

The man was transported to the Kalispell Regional Medical Center, where he was placed in the intensive care unit.

Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry said the man was “significantly injured.”

“We still have to go interview the actual victim when we can do that,” Curry said. “Then we’ll hand it over to the county attorney’s office and see who they’ll charge with what.”
