Folk duo in concert at KM Theatre

| December 5, 2012 6:30 PM

Storyhill will perform in Kalispell Dec. 13.

The Bozeman-based folk duo will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the KM Theatre, 50 Second St. E.

Chris Cunningham and John Hermanson grew up and started performing together as teenagers in Bozeman. They recorded their first tape as Chris and Johnny in 1989, upon graduating from high school, and then temporarily parted ways.

Cunningham moved to Spain, took up guitar and focused on songwriting. Hermanson pursued a music degree in violin performance at St. Olaf College in Minnesota and began playing gigs around town. They began performing together again in the early 1990s.

Cunningham and Hermanson toured as Storyhill for three years in the mid-’90s and recorded several self-released albums. They then parted ways, worked on solo material and formed other groups — only to reform Storyhill and begin recording again a decade later. Since 2007, the duo has released two albums, “Storyhill” and “Shade of Trees,” and won acclaim from listeners across the country.

The Kalispell show is one of the last opportunities to catch the duo in concert for the next several months.

“After shows in Kalispell, Missoula and Bozeman, Storyhill will take a one-year hiatus from touring to concentrate on recording a new CD,” Marshall Noice, who is helping bring the duo to Kalispell, said in an email to the Inter Lake.

Tickets to the show are available at Noice Gallery, the Kalispell Grand Hotel and Ceres Bakery. For more information about the concert, call Noice at 755-5321.
