Kids can audition for 'Charlotte's Web'

| December 5, 2012 6:00 PM

Whitefish Theatre Company will hold auditions for its February children’s play, “Charlotte’s Web,” at 4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

Auditions take place at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish. Those planning on auditioning only need to attend one of the two  dates.

“Charlotte’s Web” is based on the cherished children’s book by E.B. White. It has been adapted for the stage by Joseph Robinette.

All of the most enchanting characters are here: Wilbur, the irresistible young pig who desperately wants to avoid the butcher; Fern, a girl who understands what animals say to each other; Templeton, the gluttonous rat who can occasionally be talked into a good deed; the Zuckerman family; the Arables; and the extraordinary spider, Charlotte, who proves to Wilbur that “friendship truly is one of the most satisfying things in the world.”

The cast will be made up of 20 to 25 students ages 7 to 14.

Script pages will be provided at the auditions. Students are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes early to fill out audition applications and study the materials provided.

Rebecca Spear, who is directing “Seussical,” will direct.

Production dates are Feb. 21 through 24 and March 1 through 3. Rehearsals will begin Jan. 7 and will be held Monday through Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. A pick-up rehearsal will also be held on Wednesday between the show weekends.
