Karen Ann Collins, 72

| December 8, 2012 10:00 PM

Karen Ann Collins, 72, “received her wings” on Nov. 29, 2012, at her home in Kalispell.

She was born Aug. 8, 1940, in Glendive to Cecil and Dorothy Skillestad.

Karen was raised in Livingston and graduated from Park County High School. She truly treasured her lifelong bond with her classmates.

She married Al Alverson and had her three loving children, Jeff, Jim and Val. And these past 43 years she shared her life married to Ray Collins. Karen felt blessed to have her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were all the center of her heart.

She had a zest for life, music, dance, art, baking goodies for friends, family and the importance of being there for others. Her quick wit, character and personality left you in stitches. It didn’t matter who you were, she always made you feel like you were part of her family.

She will be remembered for her whippy sense of humor, sparkling eyes, loving smile, spunky spirit, generosity, her nurturing and her genuine love and care for her family, friends and flowers.

Thankful for the blessing that she was in our lives, for her hugs and kisses, we will hold her love forever in our hearts.

Karen is survived by her husband, Ray Collins of Kalispell; her two sons, Jeff Alverson and Jim Alverson, and her daughter, Val Peterson, all of Laurel; five grandchildren, Miranda, Jeremey, Chastyn, Adina and Stephanie; and five great-grandchildren, Landen, Paxten, Michael, Kaylyn and Dale.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Dorothy Skillestad.

The family would like to thank Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home, where the celebration of Karen’s life was held on Dec. 1.
