Wilhma Helen Delaney, 86

Wilhma Helen Delaney, 86, of Polson, passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at St. Patrick Hospital, Missoula.

Wilhma was born Jan. 14, 1926, in Rupert, Idaho, to William and Bertha (Bull) Johns. When she was a baby her parents moved to St. Ignatius.

Wilhma and Howard attended St. Ignatius schools together and married in April of 1944. Wilhma attended business school in Missoula.

Wilhma worked with Howard on the farm before going to work for Flathead Irrigation Project at St. Ignatius. She later went to work at the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Ronan.

Wilhma was a member of Polson Community Church and a Leon Grange member. She was a gifted singer and sang at many weddings and memorial services. She was an avid gardener and also was a Sunday school teacher at the Methodist Church in St. Ignatius for many years.

Wilhma was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; parents, William “Bill” and Bertha; brothers, Walter and Willie Johns; and sister, Virginna Wegner.

Wilhma is survived by her daughter, Joyce, and Rick Davies of St. Simons Island, Ga.; sons, Ronald and Brenda Delaney of Laramie, Wyo. and Wesley and Twila Delaney of Polson; sisters, Wanda Smalley of Missoula, Lavonne Larson of Kalispell, and Dorothy Loudermilk of Ferndale; brothers, Harold Johns of Butte and LeLand Johns of Whitehall; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at the Polson Community Church.
