Vera Louise Swisher, 87

Vera Louise Swisher, 87, passed away at home Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, in Whitefish.

She was born May 18, 1925, to Cora (Harris) and Edward Victor Zinn in Bellflower, Calif.

She was an original “Rosie the Riveter,” working at McDonnell Douglas in aircraft assembly in the war effort during World War II. She married Hollis Swisher, and they had three daughters.

Vera loved to crochet afghans and was passionate about Major League Baseball, and just celebrated her last World Series.

Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis; her parents; and numerous siblings.

She is survived by her three daughters, Corine “Renie” and husband Terry of Oregon, Sandy and husband Ty of Whitefish, and Vicki and husband Matt of West Virginia; and granddaughters, Diane of Oregon, and Kristi and Amber of Montana.

Memorial contributions can be made in Vera Swisher’s name to the Flathead Spay and Neuter Task Force, P.O. Box 2095, Whitefish, MT 59937.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
