Repeat shoplifter chased down

The Whitefish Police Department was kept busy making arrests between Friday and Saturday morning.

A man was arrested shortly before 10:30 a.m. Friday after an assault was reported on a U.S. 93 West job site. The man bailed himself out of jail.

Officers arrested a return shoplifter at a U.S. 93 South store at 4:22 p.m. Friday. He had been seen shoplifting previously, but video footage was not available. Once the footage was available, the man was seen shoplifting again and was chased down by an employee who then held him in the office until police arrived.

A drunk and disorderly man was arrested as he disembarked a train at 9:26 a.m. Friday.

A man was arrested after fleeing from an officer on foot during a traffic stop on Railway Street at 1:57 a.m. Saturday. The officer had to use a Taser on the man to stop and apprehend him.

A man was arrested after getting into a fight with his girlfriend and hitting her in the face on Karrow Avenue at 3:32 a.m. Saturday.

Mail was stolen from mailboxes at a Lupfer Avenue apartment building.


The Columbia Falls Police Department received a report of a window shot out at a restaurant on Ninth Street West.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a motorist for refusing field sobriety and breath alcohol tests during a traffic stop on U.S. 93.
