Kathryn I. Lange, 95

Kathryn I. Lange, 95, passed away Dec. 15, 2012, in Kalispell.

Kathryn was born Sept. 9, 1917, in Ackerman, Miss., the daughter of pioneer and early settler David H. Quinn and I. Dora Welch. Kathryn was baptized at 12 years of age at the First Baptist Church in Ackerman. She received her early education in Mississippi.

In 1934, after graduation, she worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in the Choctaw County agents’ office for eight years. She taught Sunday School in Primary Department.

During The war in the 1940s, she moved to California to live with a sister. She worked in San Francisco at the Southern Pacific freight office as a billing typist. She met and married Lt. T.E. Lange, liaison pilot in the 5th Field Artillery, stationed in Italy. After the war when he returned home, they bought a new house in Menlo Park where their first son David was born at the Palo Alto Hospital. She became a full-time homemaker and stay-at-home mom. She enjoyed her family and her son's ball games as he grew up. She also loved summer camping.

Kathryn was a resident of Buffalo Hills Terrace for the past 10 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ted; half brothers, Tims, Frank, Harry, Everette and Robert Quinn and L. Dow Welch; half sisters, Rosa Mae, Evelyn Quinn, Nannie Lee “Nancy” Sides, Madie “Jack” Welch Brown Humburg, and Marj Cary.

She is survived by her son, David, and wife, Robin Lange; sister, Dody Murphree; three grandchildren, Hilary and Shane Hutcheson, Whitney and Walker Milhoan and Brady Lange; four great-grandchildren, Ella and Delaney Hutcheson, and Gunnison and Agusta Milhoan; and several nieces and nephews.

Kathryn was cremated at her request, and private family services have been held.
