Young actors sought for 'Wax Museum'

| December 26, 2012 6:00 PM

Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theatre invites students in grades two through six to audition Jan. 2 for the musical “A Night At The Wax Museum.”

The hysterical meets the historical in this comic romp through the wackiest wax museum in history. School’s out for summer, but not for six unlucky students who don’t know much about history — they have to re-take the class in summer school.

First-year teacher Heather Fairchild has arranged for them to help her two aunts set up a new wax museum as a class project. Though the students’ eyes glaze over with boredom, there’s a twinkle in the wax figures’ eyes when a mysterious incantation from the back of Cleopatra’s bracelet brings them to life.

Auditions will be held at the Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theatre center, 833 Grand Ave., Bigfork (right behind the Bigfork Fire Department). Audition times are as follows:

• 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. for grades two and three

• 5:30 to 7 p.m. for grades four, five and six.

Students should prepare a 30-second monologue and stay for the entire audition time. The theater group offers several suitable monologues on its website. Plan to learn and sing something at the audition.

Wear comfortable shoes; those who audition will be moving around on stage.

Those not interested in stage work but who still want to be involved are welcome to be part of the action. Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theatre needs help building sets, props, costumes, lights and sound. Parent and student assistance is welcome.

Rehearsals will begin Jan. 3.
