She was born on Jan. 10, 1930, in Los Angeles County, Calif., to Jack Shubin and Mildred Collins Shubin.

Gerry was raised in Lewistown until coming to Kalispell in April of 1945. She went to school at Flathead County High School.

Gerry was married to Larry Claldwell, and from that union there was a daughter, Cheryl. She later married Martin Shanor, and they had a daughter, Rae Ellen.

In 1970 Gerry met the love of her life Alvin “Al” Sihrer; together they raised Rae Ellen, their daughter. Al and Gerry were married for 38 years. He had a daughter, Carol and grandson, Eric. Al passed away on May 10, 2008.

Gerry worked at Sykes as a checker for 27 years. She enjoyed fishing, snow catting and camping with Al and his kids, her kids and the neighbor kids.

Gerry was a good cook and wonderful seamstress, and spent many hours in her garden and with flowers. She loved to play cards and she did a lot of quilting. Each grandchild and great-grandchild had a quilt made by Grandma with lots of love in each stitch. She was a perfectionist in everything she did.

She will be deeply missed.
