Chair-nap suspect didn't have a leg to stand on

A resident of Grand Drive in Bigfork reported to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office that someone was holding an expensive antique chair of hers hostage.

The alleged thief called to say he had the chair and would give it back if she paid a bill for something else. Apparently, the suspect had been doing work for her and took the chair in lieu of payment for the general contractor.

A deputy contacted the suspect and said he couldn’t hold her chair for ransom for the entire amount she owes for other charges, only for what she owes him for repairs to the chair itself.

A previously reported “gigantic bum camp” off the U.S. 93 bypass near Ashley Creek again was reported by another concerned person.

Deputies spoke with a Kalispell resident and officers with the Great Falls Police Department after a notebook was confiscated in Great Falls with the address of the Kalispell residence marked for a burglary.

A resident of River Road in Evergreen said men were shooting a rifle nearby and that he was concerned about how close they were to his house and his animals. Although dispatch could hear the shots over the phone, deputies were unable to locate the men.

A resident of Canyon Road in Hungry Horse reported 10 to 12 shots being fired behind his residence.

A pair of boys shooting BB guns at birds incited the wrath of a Jellison Road resident in Columbia Falls who reported the two to police for their shots being aimed toward traffic.

An unknown person siphoning gas from vehicles left the scene of the crime on U.S. 2 East in Kalispell in a hurry, leaving behind a hose and other equipment.

Extension cords were stolen from a garage on Willow Glen Drive in Kalispell. The owner reportedly later found them at a recycling center.

A Seventh Street resident stopped by the Kalispell Police Department to say that someone had stolen $500 from underneath his mattress.

A man was advised that the park between Looking Glass Avenue and Oberlin Loop is not a snowmobile track after a nearby resident reported him riding a snowmobile around it.

A resident of First Avenue East saw a person checking vehicles before turning onto Fifth Street.

The Polson Police Department received a report of assault on 11th Avenue West.

A theft was reported on Main Street.

A theft from a vehicle was reported at an auto shop.
