Elusive driver crashes; woman goes to hospital

A driver attempting to flee a deputy with the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office on Spotted Bear Road in Martin City only ended up making things worse for himself. While in pursuit of the vehicle, the deputy lost sight of it, but then came across it crashed at the intersection of First Street West and First Avenue West, where someone was running away. The deputy was unable to locate the driver but found a drunk woman in the vehicle, whom he transported to North Valley Hospital.

A report of a man beating up a woman in a car ended with the woman being arrested for partner or family member assault on Columbia Falls Stage Road in Columbia Falls. The man allegedly tried to run the woman over after she got out of the car, but officers were unable to locate him. After finding the woman and taking her to the location where the man had been going, the woman was arrested.

A man apparently decided his former employer still owed him for his services, including allegedly using a company gas card to fill his rig, racking up $4,500 in charges.

An inmate at the Flathead County Detention Center broke a cup and was hitting doors and windows.

A girl was taken to juvenile detention on a warrant for violating her probation after she was picked up at a store on Parliament Drive in Evergreen for being uncooperative.

Electronics and jewelry were reported stolen from a home on Hoffman Draw in Kila.

The Kalispell Police Department got a report Friday morning regarding a student rumored to have a knife and intentions of hurting a teacher at Flathead High School. The student was contacted and did posses a knife but denied making any threats. The student will be disciplined by the school.

There was a report of windows smashed out of two buildings on Third Street West, one of them occupied and the other vacant. Nothing appeared to have been stolen.

A girl was cited Thursday for shoplifting at a store on North Main Street. She was released to her mother.

Someone cut through a fence and broke into a storage shed on Ninth Street West, according to a report received by the Columbia Falls Police Department.

A man in his early 20s was reported as shoplifting at a business on Nucleus Avenue.

The Whitefish Police Department received reports of theft on West Sixth Street, U.S. 93 South and Central Avenue.

While assisting another law enforcement agency, deputies with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office ultimately arrested the person for resisting arrest.
