C-Falls girls whip Loggers; Whitefish boys trip Frenchtown

COLUMBIA FALLS - Columbia Falls wrapped up regular-season play Thursday with a 53-21 Northwestern A girls basketball victory over Libby.

Columbia Falls (7-11 overall, 4-4 league) jumped on top 12-4 and led 20-12 at intermission.

The Wildkats put the game away in the second half, outscoring Libby 33-9.

"I thought defensively we played pretty good throughout the whole night," Columbia Falls coach Cary Finberg said.

"The girls are figuring out what they need to do to be successful. They are getting a little momentum going into the tournament."

Hope Burlage led Columbia Falls, and all scorers, with 17 points. Teammate Cortney White added 12.

Taylor Quinn topped Libby (4-14, 1-7) with five points.

FRENCHTOWN - Cooper Olson led a balanced Whitefish attack with 13 points as the Bulldogs notched a Northwestern A victory over Frenchtown.

Whitefish (10-7, 5-2) also had Gage Vasquez in double figure scoring with 12 points.

Seven different Bulldogs scored.

Whitefish, down 11-7 eight minutes into play, trailed 22-19 at the half. Whitefish outscored Frenchtown (6-12, 3-5) 35-24 in the second half.

Whitefish closes out regular-season play on Saturday at Polson.
