Columbia Falls girls 3rd at Northwestern A divisional

COLUMBIA FALL — Ciera Finberg hit two 3s and Hope Burlage one during a 22-point third quarter for Columbia Falls, sparking the Wildkats to the consolation title at the Northwestern A girls divisional basketball tournament on Saturday with a 57-35 win over Libby.

Columbia Falls (9-12) led 25-17 at the half.

Burlage led all scorers with 20 points, 11 coming from the free-throw line in 14 attempts. Finberg totaled 12 points.

Haley Belgarde also had 12 points for the Wildkats.

Libby (5-16) was led by Hailey Craig, who hit three 3s en route to a 10- point effort.

Columbia Falls advanced to the consolation finals by beating Whitefish (1-19) earlier in the day 48-33 in a loser-out contest.

Polson (9-12) held Libby (5-15) to 10 first-half points in rolling to a victory in the consolation final.

Polson led 12-2 and 19-8 after the first two periods.

The Pirates had eight different players figure in the scoring, led by Zack Camel’s 10 points.

Kraig Nelson topped Libby with eight.

Libby advanced to the final with a 51-32 loser-out victory over Frenchtown (6-14) earlier in the day.
