Valkyries fall to Breakers in Western B final
HAMILTON — Bigfork fell behind early and never fully recovered in falling to Missoula Loyola 48-39 Saturday night in the Western B Divisional girls basketball tournament championship game.
Loyola (18-5) jumped in front early, leading 13-7 after the first eight minutes of play.
Bigfork (18-5) battled back with a 15-point second quarter to trail 24-22 at the half.
Fifth-ranked Loyola outscored No. 3 Bigfork 24-17 in the final half.
Taylor Peck topped Bigfork in scoring with 11 points.
Loyola was led by Kiernan Haggarty’s 13 points.
Loyola advances to the Class B state tournament March 8-10 in Hamilton.
Bigfork will face consolation winner Deer Lodge on Monday at 6 p.m. in a challenge game at Hamilton. That winner will advance to state as the division’s No. 2 seed.
