Eureka girl suffers injuries during home invasion

A Eureka girl was hospitalized following a burglary at her home Monday afternoon, according to a press release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

Eureka Dispatch received a 911 call reporting the incident at 3:16 p.m.

The caller said the homeowner’s juvenile daughter was home alone when an unknown suspect broke into the home. The girl sustained injuries serious enough to warrant emergency treatment.

Lincoln County deputies, officers with the Eureka Police Department and emergency personnel with Eureka Ambulance responded to the home, and the girl was transported to North Valley Hospital.

Deputies secured the scene and a sheriff’s detective and evidence technician initiated an investigation, which is ongoing.
