Watercraft catches fire near City Beach
The Whitefish Fire Department responded to the Whitefish City Beach Tuesday after a personal watercraft caught fire on the shore. Fire Chief Tom Kennelly said the fire started after the watercraft sprung a fuel leak. The watercraft sustained major damage, but no one was injured.
The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received a report that a bomb, possibly a pipe bomb, went off in the yard of a Farm to Market Road home as a motorist was passing. Damage to the vehicle was reported.
An approximately 13-year-old boy was reported driving a truck in a parking lot off U.S. 2 East in Kalispell.
Underage drinkers were reported to be an ongoing problem at the new fishing area at Lake Five.
Someone broke into a Stoner Creek Road home in Lakeside while the resident was sleeping and stole $200 and pain medication.
Someone broke the lock on a storage unit on Montclair Drive and stole several antiques.
The Kalispell Police Department received a call from an employee at a business on Corporate Drive who said a man came in and showed a badge, saying he was with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The man, who had a gun under his shirt, would not say why he wanted to talk to the manager of the business.
Officers responded to a report of an unconscious man whose face was bleeding and located the man, who had fallen off a bicycle and appeared intoxicated.
A Ninth Avenue West resident complained their neighbor was using a grill between their residences and the “fumes” were going into his house and giving him headaches. The neighbor told him to close his windows if he didn’t like it, but the resident said it was too hot to close the windows.
A College Avenue resident reported several people pulled up in a vehicle, took pictures of her house and sped off.
A group of youths running around with flashlights looking at a phone box turned out to be playing a GPS-based game called geo-caching.
A youth stole two six-packs of hard lemonade from a store on Third Avenue East North.
The Columbia Falls Police Department received a call after the director of nursing at the Montana Veteran’s Home found marijuana on one of the residents. The resident said he got it from an employee.
The Whitefish Police Department received a report of a fight on East Fourth Street.
Disorderly conduct was reported on Wisconsin Avenue.
A theft was reported on Columbia Avenue.
The Polson Police Department received a report of criminal trespass to a vehicle on 11th Street East.
