Lois Van Landingham Gray, 97

Lois Van Landingham Gray, 97, passed away in her sleep on Friday, June 8, 2012, in Kalispell.

She was born at home in Nampa, Idaho, on July 23, 1914, to William and Anna Van Landingham.  

In her life she was a devoted wife, mother, and good friend to many.

During World War II, while her husband fought in the Pacific, she worked at the U.S. Army airfield in Boise, Idaho, doing both clerical duties and maintenance on the planes. After the war they moved to Pocatello, Idaho, where she gave birth to her only child, Scott. She moved to the Flathead in 1964.

She was known for her humor and quick wit, as well as her generosity and support of folks in need. She was active in her church and frequently worked in its Dorcas Relief Society. She was a dedicated member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church for more than 60 years, both in Kalispell and Midvale, Idaho.

She will be missed greatly by her family and those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen Cobbley, (1960); her husband, Leonard Lopp (1969); and her husband, the Rev. Harry Gray (1985); as well as her father William Jesse Edward Van Landingham, mother Anna Elizabeth Sutton Van Landingham; and her three brothers, Glen Van Landingham, Lynn Van Landingham and Ivan Van Landingham.

She is survived by her son, Scott Cobbley, and wife, Donna, of Kalispell; her granddaughter, Pati Brandt, and husband, Chuck Dupont, and their daughters, Tabea and Charli, of Denver; and her granddaughter, Vanessa McCourt, and husband, Michael McCourt, and their son, Owen, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and -nephews.
