EUREKA — Kade Davis drove in four runs with a double and a home run and Bryton Guckenberg held Libby to a pair of singles in going the distance on the mound as Kootenai Valley rolled to a 10-0 victory in the first game of an American Legion baseball doubleheader on Sunday.

The second game was canceled because of heavy rain, lightning and high winds. It will be rescheduled for later in the week.

Davis, 3-for-3, doubled in two runs in Eureka’s three-run first inning.

He belted a home run to straight center with one runner aboard in the fifth inning.

Davis now has five round-trippers for the season, which ties him for the team lead with Guckenberg. Ryan Holder is next with four.

The home run was the 15th thus far for the Rangers.

Guckenberg (2-0) struck out 12 and issued just two walks.

“He had a good fastball and he located that very well,” Kootenai Valley coach Brent Holder said of his mound ace.

“He was working all three pitches today.”

Kootenai Valley (16-12 overall, 4-3 league) and Libby have met four times this season with each team winning twice. This was the first conference matchup.
