Iron gate gone; hinges remain

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office got a report Sunday morning about a large iron barn gate stolen “right off the hinges” at a property on Livermore Flats in the Whitefish area.

There was a report of two pit bulls chasing horses on a Bayou Road property, prompting the horse owner to fire a shot over the dogs’ heads in an effort to scare them off.

A teenage girl reported that her mother had been abusing her at a residence on Lake Five Road.

There was a report of a suspicious vehicle abandoned for several days in the middle of a private road off Bear Paw Road in the Bigfork area.

There was a report of a purse stolen at a church on Montana 83 in the Bigfork area.

There was a report of theft from a storage unit on Montclair Drive.

A woman calling from a Helena Flats Road residence reported that she returned home to find her shower mysteriously running and that someone had urinated all over the bathroom. There was no sign of forced entry, and nothing appeared to have been stolen from the house.

A woman calling from a Many Lakes Drive address reported that an intoxicated man she knew was on top of her vehicle trying to discourage her from leaving. The two were eventually separated.

There was a report of a suicidal man running in front of a vehicle on U.S. 2 west of Columbia Falls, and then telling the driver to run him over. The driver instead kept his flashers on to warn other drivers as the man continued to walk down the middle of the highway.

Kalispell Police got a report Sunday from a man who said he caught three teenage boys rummaging through his vehicle and attempting to the steal the keys at an address on Fourth Avenue West. The thieves dropped the keys when they fled the scene. Officers were unable to locate the suspects.

There was a report of a vehicle’s back window bashed out on First Avenue West North.

A teenage girl was arrested for shoplifting at a store on North Main Street.

There was a report of a cellphone stolen from a vehicle on U.S. 2 West.

There was a report of a man passed out with a beer in his hand inside a running pickup truck parked near a hotel on U.S. 93 South. It’s not clear if the man was arrested, but a tow truck was called to get the pickup.

At about 11 p.m., there was a report of a highly intoxicated, disoriented man walking around U.S. 2 West and Meridian. He was stopped by an officer until someone showed up to give him a ride.

There was a report Monday morning of a back door broken out of an office on First Avenue East, with a deposit bag stolen during the burglary.

There was a report of an intoxicated man cursing at people near the post office on First Avenue West.

A woman reported the theft of a ring at her workplace on Third Avenue East North.

Someone called Columbia Falls Police to report that a part of the roof on the old Pamida building appeared to be coming off.

After a traffic stop on Sixth Street West, a woman was arrested on a Montana Highway Patrol warrant.

Whitefish Police got a report of criminal mischief on East Second Street.
