An extreme solution to a hazard

A curious cyclist flagged down a Flathead County Sheriff’s deputy on U.S. 2 East in Columbia Falls to ask if he could shoot at cars that swerve at him on the highway. He was informed that he could not and would face serious consequences if he did. He refused to give the deputy his name or any identification and could not give any information about anyone who had swerved at him.

Several reports of shots fired near Foy’s Lake Road in Kalispell led deputies to a drunk man who had fired several rounds into the ground. He told deputies he wasn’t trying to hurt anyone and was “just having some fun.” The man’s family took his gun away and locked it in a safe. The man was counseled about his behavior and safe shooting. He promised there would be no more problems.

Someone broke through a door while trying to steal liquor from a business on Twin Bridges Road in Whitefish.

A Kalispell resident on McDermott Lane reported three chicken-killing dogs were loose in the neighborhood.

A truck driver reported $1,006 in fraudulent expenses on his account.

A resident of Allen Drive in Columbia Falls reported hearing 40 shots fired.

A Second Street West resident spooked by suspicious activity in the area contacted the Kalispell Police Department for extra patrols. The resident said when leaving for work, there is usually a man hiding behind a pole nearby who jumps back and hides when vehicles pass.

A man was arrested after a Fourth Avenue East resident reported his roommate stole his half of the rent and several speakers.

A man was cited and released after attempting to steal from a U.S. 93 North business.

Officers with the Columbia Falls Police Department arrested a man for partner or family member assault after he shoved a pregnant woman in a home on Ninth Street West. The woman, 11 weeks pregnant, was transported to the hospital with abdominal pain.

Officers with the Polson Police Department arrested a person for violating probation.

A person was arrested on a warrant at Polson City Hall.

An investigation of suspicious activity uncovered an incident of criminal trespass to a property on 12th Avenue East.

A trooper with the Montana Highway Patrol arrested a motorist for driving with a revoked or suspended license.

Deputies with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office arrested a person for violating probation.

A theft on Baker Avenue was reported to the Whitefish Police Department.
