<p>Karen Leigh, one of several artists creating work for the upcoming “Virtuoso Violins,” a fundraiser for Glacier Symphony and Chorale, puts the finishing touches on her violin Thursday afternoon at her studio in Kalispell. According to Lakeside resident Margene Berry, one of the auction organizers, the artists have donated 100 percent of the proceeds to the symphony. The other artists participating in the Virtuoso Violins auction are Nancy Cawdrey, Nick Oberling, Jennifer Li, Rochelle Lombardi, Mark Ogle, Rob Akey, Jeff Manion, Jeffrey Funk, Marla Edmiston, Susan Guthrie, Tara Moore and David Secrest.</p>

<p>Nathaniel Mycroft of Kalispell makes his way down the course in the novice class of the Giant Slalom event on Monday morning at Big Mountain. Mycroft was one of 284 athletes to compete in the Special Olympics Montana State Winter Games. Two competitors will advance to the 2013 World Winter Games in Pyeong Chang, South Korea.</p>
