Flathead boys perfect in singles tennis play
GREAT FALLS — Singles play stood out for Flathead’s boys tennis team on Saturday as the Braves were 8-0 in duals with Great Falls High and C.M. Russell.
That helped FHS tie Great Falls High 4-4 and led to a 5-3 win over CMR.
“I was pleased with the singles players, how they competed” Flathead coach Jeff Anderson said.
“They all went 2-0 (two sets) ... that’s super.”
Winning singles matches for FHS were Glenn Strickler, John Pfeifer, Andrew Klingensmith and Jeremy Zug.
“Our singles might be locked in right now,” Anderson said of that lineup.
“There might be a little bit of change.”
The Flathead girls, with singles wins by Ashli Petek and Alexandra Moe and Mary Sievers and Kari McGrath winning in doubles, tied Great Falls High 3-3.
C.M. Russell beat Flathead 6-2 in the other dual. Anna Milheim won her singles match for the Bravettes while the other win was in doubles by Sarah Seynei and Loren Utterback.
“The girls also played really well,” Anderson said. Competed hard. It was fun to watch.”
Flathead is back on the court Saturday in Missoula to face Helena High and Helena Capital.
