Walton, Hernandez lead Glacier tennis vs. CMR, G. Falls
GREAT FALLS — Veronica Walton and Mario Hernandez opened the tennis season for Glacier with victories in No. 1 singles action against C.M. Russell and Great Falls High on Saturday.
Walton won her two outings 6-3, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-0.
Hernandez also cruised, winning 6-3, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-2.
The Glacier girls split, beating Great Falls High 5-3, while losing to C.M. Russell by the same score.
The Glacier boys tied C.M. Russell 4-4, but fell to Great Falls High 6-2.
“Not bad,” Glacier coach Josh Munro said of the first outings.
“Our JV kids showed well. Our younger, inexperienced players played well in their first outing.”
Munro said Glacier had eight of its 24 varsity players in action for these duals. Four of the varsity players were competing in an Intermountain Tournament. The others were on spring break.
Up next for Glacier is dual action on Saturday in Missoula versus Helena and Helena Capital.
