Eureka played well in the first game of its doubleheader against Ronan on Tuesday but was error-prone in the second, dropping both games in Eureka.

After giving up an early run in the first game, Lions’ pitcher Jaquelyn Lener shut down Ronan for three innings to keep Eureka in the game. Despite getting seven hits, the Lions weren’t able to get on the board until the bottom of the seventh and lost 5-2.

“We came out and played good defense and the girls battled hard against a very good team,” Eureka coach Andy Escobar said.

Game two wasn’t as clean as Ronan ran away, winning 11-0 in five innings. The Maidens racked up three runs in both the second and third innings and four in the fourth. Eureka had six errors in the game.

For its next game, Eureka heads to Florence for a doubleheader on Saturday.
