Hellgate hammers Flathead in softball

MISSOULA — Missoula Hellgate matched hits for runs in whipping Flathead 14-1 Friday in a Western AA softball contest.

Hellgate opened with a six-run first inning, then pushed four more across the plate in both the third and fourth innings.

Jenae White, Mac Schultz, Hannah Cook and Frankie Needles all went 2-for-3 as the Knights belted 14 hits, including a home run by Schultz.

Flathead was held to two hits and Julia Morrow had both.

Flathead (3-7 league) hosts Northwestern A foe Libby on Tuesday.
