Local pros sweep bouts

The Burton Boxing fighters swept the pro bouts and capped an exciting night of boxing on Friday night at the Flathead County Fairgrounds.
Lakeside’s Jesse Uhde won a close bout at the end of the night by unanimous decision over Dusten Guillemin, from North Platte, Neb., to move his pro record to 2-1. A replacement fighter from the original fight card, Guillemin gave Uhde all he could handle, hanging with the talented fighter for all four rounds after driving 17 hours for the fight.
Uhde was the much more active fighter, fighting through Guillemin’s tough defense to land a slew of quick hits. He effectively used his left throughout the fight to get through the gloves of Guillemin, who tried to counter his quick flurries with hard rights.
One of those counters, a hard right cross following an attempted body shot, caught Uhde clean in the fourth round, dropping him to the mat a few minutes into the final frame. Uhde recovered to finish out the fight, closing the fourth with a quick combo in the corner.
“I wanted to move and box from the outside, use angles,” Uhde said. “It worked well for the first three rounds. I got caught in the fourth, luckily I won the first three. It got me the decision.”
In the other pro bout, Elmo’s Jon Jay Moount earned his first pro win in a unanimous decision over Belgrade’s David Ottis.
Mount was extremely quick in the fight, ducking nearly every punch for the first three rounds, while catching Ottis with body shot after body shot. His smooth defense was able to frustrate the longer Ottis, who struggled to connect with anything but the occasional lead jab.
“That’s what (his father and trainer Jay Mount) trains the most, head movement, jabs and body shots,” said Mount, who joined with Burton Boxing three weeks ago.
The undercard was highlighted by two TKOs, fittingly opening and closing the amateur bouts.
Dylon Hoff opened the night with a spectacular two rounds against Tucker Connell. Hoff was consistently able to land shots to the face of Connell, forcing referee Ford Jones to give a standing eight count two times in the second round before finally finishing him with a left right combo.
Russ “Rusty Nails” Taylor was much more concise in his fight, finishing Bill Pritchett in just 10 seconds of the opening round after coming out swinging from the corner, forcing Pritchett to the ropes and landing a series of big shots to the head.
Other wins on the night came from Jeremy Grilley, Bryan Miller, Marnic Mann and Lindsey Hanson, all by unanimous decision.
