Man lighting smoke hits mailbox, power box and boats

A 20-year-old Hungry Horse man driving north on U.S. 93 early Sunday morning crossed two lanes of traffic, jumped a curb and hit a mailbox, a power box and five boats before careening back into the roadway and coming to a stop.

The man was cited for careless driving. He told Kalispell Police Department Officer Sean McCray that he was trying to light a cigarette when the wreck happened. He and his 19-year-old girlfriend both refused medical treatment. Their car was totaled and some of the boats, in a vacant lot along the road, suffered significant damage.

A caller reported a window smashed out of a car on Parkway Drive.

Sunday afternoon, a caller on 10th Avenue West reported a man sending threatening text messages to a pregnant woman.

Saturday evening, police arrested three juveniles for theft. Two were taken into custody by employees of a store on First Avenue East North. The third who ran was chased down in the parking lot.

A woman reported finding drugs in a rental property on Seventh Street West. Police collected a number of items of paraphernalia for destruction.

Later that night, rims and snow tires were reported stolen on Two Mile Drive.

A woman on 10th Avenue West told police that her daughter was with a boyfriend who is aggressive and broke the windshield of her car. An officer made contact with the girl who said it was verbal only.

An elderly woman on Utah Street told police she wanted someone to be quiet. When police asked for more information, the woman hung up.

A woman on Diane Road told the Columbia Falls Police Department that prescription drugs vanished from her purse while she was sleeping at a friend’s house Friday night.

Two thefts on U.S. 93 were reported to the Whitefish Police Department early Saturday morning.

Ronan Police Department officers arrested someone for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol early Saturday morning on U.S. 93.

Deputies with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office cited someone for partner-family member assault early Saturday morning on Fourth Street.

Later that afternoon, someone was cited for criminal trespass on South Maggie Ashley Drive.

Polson Police Department officers cited someone for criminal mischief at the Cherry Hill Apartments Saturday morning.

A theft from a motor vehicle was reported on Third Street West.
