LIBBY — Kim Tangen batted 2-for-4 with a double and a triple as the Libby Loggers claimed a 7-4 nonconference victory over visting Flathead on Tuesday.

Mahalah Wedel was 3-for-3 for the Loggers (8-5, 3-2). Libby outhit the Bravettes eight to six.

Julia Morrow was 2-for-4 to lead the Bravettes. Jenna Jensen, Julie Dawson, Carson Dawson and Norah Rashoodi each had one hit apiece for Flathead.

“We came out and hit the ball. Mahalah Wedel had a couple of nice shots and defensively, we played better. We played well,” said Libby coach Dean Thompson.

“Kim Tangen had a good day with the bat,” he added.

“Great job by our pitchers today, Jenna Jensen and Carson Dawson,” said Flathead coach Ashley Fusaro.

“We just didn’t have a sense of urgency all seven innings like we needed at the plate,” she said.

Flathead wound up stranding seven baserunners.

“We stayed with them the whole game instead of going ahead when we had chances,” she added.

For Libby, this win means confidence.

“Going into Frenchtown (on Thursday), we’re hitting the ball,” Thompson said of the Loggers.

Flathead (3-7) will be at Glacier on Thursday. The JV crosstown matchup has been moved to 3 and 5 p.m. on Friday.
