Northwestern A divisional track: Cats, Dogs in charge

Whitefishs Sean Foley clears 13 feet in the pole vault Saturday during the Northwestern A Divisional track meet at Columbia Falls. He placed fourth.

COLUMBIA FALLS — Derrick Williams ran away from the field in both the 800 and 3,200 and Josiah Osborne took firsts in the 100 and 200 as the Columbia Falls boys claimed the 2012 Northwestern A divisional track title on Saturday.

Columbia Falls scored 174.5 points to 126 for second place Whitefish. Frenchtown was third with 80.5

Williams turned in a 1:55.65 in the 800 and 9:38.42 in the 3,200. The margin between him and second place was more than seven seconds in the 800 and 42 seconds in the 3,200.

On the girls side, it was Marlow Schulz and Amanda Foley leading the Whitefish Bulldogs to a lopsided victory.

Schulz and Foley finished 1-2 in both the 100 and 200 and Foley claimed the 300 hurdles and was second in long jump as Whitefish outdistanced second place Polson 205 to 132. Columbia Falls was third with 105.

Polson’s Riley Sampson was the other double winner on the day, with victories in both the shot put (50-3.5) and discus (138-1).
