Mysterious sky stuff identified: Pollen

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office investigated a report from a resident of Shady Lane in Bigfork who said some sort of substance fell from the sky overnight. The man said it was not ash from prescribed burns and that it looked like sawdust but wasn’t. It was determined to be tree pollen.

Nazi and satanic-looking symbols were reported spray painted on a pumphouse on Timbered Terrace in Whitefish.

A woman reported her 9-mm Glock handgun, extra magazines and her Bible were missing from her home on U.S. 93 North in Olney.

A person in pre-release in Missoula reported a woman broke into his storage unit.

About 12 storage units were broken into on U.S. 93 South in Kalispell.

A Grand Drive resident in Bigfork reported her mother’s diamond necklace and her father’s wedding ring stolen.

A resident of Dover Drive reported his neighbor’s dog broke through his fence and attacked his dog.

A home on Lodgepole Drive in Whitefish was burglarized.

A handgun and a bag of tools were stolen from an unlocked truck on Sweetgrass Lane.

A pair of vehicles were burglarized on Conn Road in Columbia Falls.

A baseball bag and two speakers were stolen from an unlocked vehicle on U.S. 93 North in Kalispell, where another vehicle was also gone through.


The Kalispell Police Department received a report of a 15-year-old boy touching and making sexually explicit comments to a 15-year-old girl who is a classmate. The boy, who has a prior history of similar behavior, was counseled and released to an adult.

A man reported another man pulled up and forced him into a car on Third Avenue East then drove him up Patrick Creek Road, took his shoes and forced him out.

A woman worked out a payment plan with the manager of a restaurant after a check she wrote for food bounced.

A teenager was arrested after causing a disturbance in a school on Fourth Avenue West, where the principal held him down until officers arrived.

A teenage boy was seen driving at a high rate of speed through a parking lot at Woodland Park, then getting out and throwing down a beer can. The driver was found to have two warrants through the sheriff’s office.

A Fifth Avenue East resident reported lots of noise and the smell of marijuana coming from the apartment below him.

A woman was arrested on a warrant on Eighth Avenue West.

Several men were reported fighting in the street after being thrown out of a bar on First Avenue West.

A man was reported going through a van on U.S. 2 West. Cigarettes, a lighter and old metal spoons were stolen from the unlocked vehicle, and the owner’s driver’s license and food stamp card were found in the parking lot.

A Sixth Avenue East woman reported her bicycle was stolen and another one was dumped at her house.

A person was cited for theft after being caught in the act on video at a U.S. 93 South business.

A wallet containing $500 and debit cards was stolen from a vehicle on U.S. 2 West.

Medications for pain, anxiety, depression and inflammation were stolen from an unlocked home on Second Avenue West.


The Columbia Falls Police Department received a report of a vehicle with all four tires slashed on 12th Street West.

A man turned himself in on a warrant.


The Whitefish Police Department investigated a report of an intoxicated pedestrian on Central Avenue.

A verbal disturbance was reported on Central Avenue.


Deputies with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office arrested a motorist for driving with a suspended or revoked license on U.S. 93.


Officers with the Polson Police Department arrested a person for partner or family member assault on Seventh Avenue East.
