State A track: Columbia Falls' Williams first in 800, 3,200

BOZEMAN — Defending champion Columbia Falls is the first-day leader at the Class A state track meet.

The Wildcats have 30 points thanks to first-place finishes by Derrick Williams in the 800 (1:56.82) and 3,200 (9:51.25) and Daniel Jones won the shot put (49-3).

Corvallis is second, 27 1/2.

Corvallis, 35, leads the girls standings with Anaconda, 19.

Whitefish’s Marlow Schulz won the 400 (57.07).

In Class B, Makena Morley of Bigfork had the best 1,600 (5:09.86) time.
